The Great Wall is not only the cultural heritage of the human beings, but also the cultural sign of China in the world. With the open and reform policy, more and more people in China even the world admire the Great Wall, concern it, explore it and approach it. The Great Wall provides a big historical culture platform for us nowadays, also an activity platform, a big sports activity platform for nationwide fitness programs which will attract the whole society’s concern with the platform’s charm.

With the development of society, people have stronger and stronger need for interesting sports activity in daily life. The routes of Great Wall international hiking races are all along the Great Wall in the special scene and heritage sites which enable hikers appreciate beautiful natural scene and the sadness of the Great Wall history, and experience low-carbon life. At meantime, the races intend to promote the nationwide fitness programs for national health, protect ecological environment and for devotion to the construction of harmonious society.

The Great Wall international hiking races activity will promote the Great Wall to the world. Since the races’ participants from different countries, colorful content and endurance time, the activity will become the focus of the world, hot issues of discussion and news media which will take effect in point that people know more about and visit the Great Wall, and finally publicize the Great Wall to the world.

From July 2^nd to August 12^th, 2011

Ⅷ Stations and introduction

The whole length of the activity is 200 kilometers with six stations and the follows are the introduction of the stations:

First, Shandong Qi Great Wall (July 7^th to 9^th) (opening ceremony)

Qi Great Wall begins from Shandong province in west and ends in Qingdao in east, with thirteen counties and cities along and more than 600 kilometers. The route is on Qi Great Wall in Jinyangguan Pass and the extended parts are stoned wall with high quality of appreciation. The hiking will be mainly on the mountain ways with a length of 40 kilometers.

Second, Hebei Shanhaiguan Great Wall (July 10^th to 12th)

The route is on Shanguan Great Wall, 15 kilometers from Qinhuangdao city, honored as the first pass under the heaven which will begins from Laolongtou beside the sea, passing Guancheng to Jiaoshan Great Wall and finally to the top with a length of 40 kilometers. The feature of this route is with sea beside.

Third, Hebei Xifengkou Great Wall (July 13^th to 15th)

Xifengkou is located in Kuan city, Hebei province. The route is on Xifengkou Great Wall whose part is in reservoir which forms the Great Wall under water. Hiking will be around the lake with a length of 50 kilometers. The feature of the route is with water covering part of the Great Wall and around the lake.

Fourth, Hebei Jinshanling Great Wall (July 16^th to 18th)

Jinshanling Great Wall is on the boundary between Luanping county of Hebei province and Miyun county of Beijing. The route is on the Great Wall which is the greatest part of the Ten Thousand Li Great Wall. Hiking will be passing different watchtowers to the top and be back with a length of 30 kilometers.

Fifth, Beijing Huairou Great Wall (July 19^th to 21st)

Huairou Great Wall is the most winding part of the Great Wall. The route is from Mutianyu to Huanghuacheng passing Bohai town and Xiangshui lake scene with a length of 25 kilometers on flat road.

The Great Wall of this route is the steepest part of the Great Wall, including Dajiaoyu, Heiguan and Bailingguan with military outpost and watchtowers at peaking along the mountain way which is 30 kilometers long. Nearby hikers can see old castle folk-custom tourism zone, Wuling Mountain scene and Yaoqiaoyu reservoir.

Seventh, Beijing Yanqing Great Wall (July 25^th to 27th)

The route includes Dajiaoyu, Heiguan and Bailingguan with military outpost and watchtowers at peaking along the way which is 30 kilometers long. The way is on good condition with old castles and rammed-earth Great Wall. Liugou village is hot folk-custom site, famous for Toufu banquet and capable of reception with old castles in and the Great Wall out.

Eighth, Hebei Zhangbei Great Wall (July 28^th to 30th)

The route is in Zhangbei grassland which is in high altitude and very cool with the Great Wall of six dynasties among prairie, mountain, knap with beautiful scene and a length of 45 kilometers.

Ninth, Shanxi Datong the Great Wall Town Great Wall (July 31^st to August 2nd)

The Great Wall Town is in northern part of Shanxi and marches with Inner Mongolia. The route is along the boundary with the rammed Ming Great Wall and piers in farmland. The scene is magnificent with a length of 30 kilometers.

Tenth, Shanxi Pianguan Laoniu River Bend Great Wall (August 3^rd to 5th)

Laoniu River Bend, located in northwest part of Shanxi, belongs to Pianguan county and marches with Inner Mongolia opposite the Yellow River.

The route is the sky parkway in Laoniu River Bend among ancient beacon towers with fantastic feelings, 55 kilometers long.

Eleventh, Beijing Juyongguan Pass individual time trials (August 6^th to 7th)

Juyongguan Pass is located in Changping district, 50 kilometers away from Beijing and the gate city is in the Valley of Taihang Mountain, with arduous way condition. The route is around Juyongguan with a length of 30 kilometers.

Twelfth, Beijing Badaling ancient Great Wall team time trials (closing ceremony)

Badaling Great Wall is located in Jundu Mountain, Yanqing county of Beijing and is honored as one of the most significant fortresss. It is the representative part of the Great Wall. The route is from Badaling ancient Great Wall to Shixia Pass with a length of 15 kilometers. The Great Wall of this route is with the original scene.

Ⅸ Rules

1. Participants apply in the activity with their ID card number as the base of record.

2. Participants should bear limited load to race following the request of station.

3. Participants should hike the whole route, no running (two feet above land) and no stop. The judges discover once, and he will warn. Twice, the participants will be disqualified.

4. Participants can bring water and food.

5. Every participant should sign in every station. After singing in, everyone will get a pin button with ID card number in. The judges will record the grades of participants with ID card number.

6. Participants should comply with all the safety rules of the activity.

7. During the race, following motor and bus or climbing onto motor or bus is forbidden.

8. Participants have no right to change the route in order to keep safe and fair.

9. Participants should comply with rules, or else they will have no grades.

10. Participants should connect with committee member if any accident happens. The contact information is in the activity pamphlets.

1. The whole course prize name---The King of Hiking

Participants will become the King of Hiking of The Great Wall International Hiking Races after he completes the whole course, namely all the stations.

2. Team prize

The team prize depends on how members of the team complete the course. In the races, a team consists of seven people. In every station, the judges will count the number of people who complete the whole course. At the end, the judges will add the number of people who complete each station and get the number of that the team completes, and then get the winners.

At the last route, the closing ceremony of The Great Wall International Hiking Races and the awarding ceremony will be held.

The prize is as follows:

Follow-up prizes: Organizers will include more stations in the races and will record ID card number and result of all the participants. In the later races, organizers will continue record the result and give the related prize.

Ⅺ Opening ceremony

8) General Sports of Administration of China leader announces the beginning of the hiking races with balloons flying to sky

Ⅻ Closing ceremony

Place: Wangjing Cultural Square of Badaling in Beijing

7）The main leader of the organizers gives a speech about the activity
